The Adelaide United Youth Team play the Campbelltown City in Round 21 of the 2016 National Premier League at the Steve Woodcock Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon.
The Young Reds returned to winning ways last weekend, defeating Adelaide Raiders 3-2 courtesy of a Blake Carpenter brace and a solo goal by Josh Mori.
Up next the Young Reds play Campbelltown City who are second on the NPLSA ladder four points behind league leaders Adelaide City.
The Young Reds’ Head Coach, Mark Jones, is confident that his side can overcome Campbelltown, but believes his side will need to ‘mirror’ their past performance if they are any chance of defeating an experienced Campbelltown outfit.
“It’s going to be a very tough game against Campbelltown because they are a great football team,” said Jones.
“We just need to try and ‘mirror’ what we produced in the last five weeks, which we showed some good performances however, weren’t able to capitalise on our chances.
“So we need to bring more of the same, obviously last time out they were much more clinical, but hopefully we can duplicate the intensity and quality which we showed back in the last game and defeat them this time.”
Jones also stated that his side won’t be bringing out any surprises this weekend and states that they will continue to play the same way.
“I think we have been very good over the last five weeks so we won’t be doing anything different in terms of tactics,” Jones said.
“Unfortunately over the last five weeks we haven’t been able to capitalise on our chances, so that’s definitely one aspect of our game we will be trying to mend come this weekend.
“Overall, we are ready for the challenge on Saturday and hopefully we can mirror our past performances and get all three points.”
