Following the re-signing of Ryan Kitto on a two-year contract we take a closer look at his career with Adelaide United.

The 25-year-old made his Reds debut back in October 2013 but it was not until his second stint at his hometown team where he established himself as a regular.

Kitto returned to Adelaide ahead of the 2016/17 season after spells with West Torrens Birkalla in the local National Premier League and the Newcastle Jets, demonstrating his perseverance and desire.

His versatility is another trait having made the transition to left-back during last season and has operated in that role under Head Coach, Gertjan Verbeek, this year.

His best moments

Brace against Western Sydney Wanderers

Kitto bagged a double in the Reds’ 2-0 win over Western Sydney in Round 8 of the 2017/18 season. Having been denied twice, first by the post and then by the goalkeeper, Kitto found the breakthrough in first-half stoppage time with an outside of the foot finish. The advantage was doubled just beyond the hour mark as Nikola Mileusnić chased down a deflection and dragged the goalkeeper out before laying the ball off to Kitto who slotted it home.

Dramatic equaliser sends Semi-final to extra-time

With just seconds remaining in Adelaide’s Hyundai A-League 2018/19 semi-final away to Perth Glory and trailing 2-1, Kitto produced wild scenes. The left-back controlled a half clearance from a corner and arrowed his right-footed strike past Liam Reddy to force extra-time in the fourth minute of stoppage time. He would then assist Michael Marrone with a brilliant cross to make it 3-3in extra-time.

Second FFA Cup Final triumph

Kitto unfortunately missed the FFA Cup Final 2018 due to an injury. However, it was the ultimate redemption as he played the entire 90 minutes a year later as the Reds routed Melbourne City 4-0 at Coopers Stadium.
