Who can stop Adelaide United? The high-flying Reds extended their undefeated streak thanks to a 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners in the Ninja A-League.
American forward Erin Healy was the hero for Adelaide, who made it 11 games without defeat on Saturday night.
Her sixth goal of the season gave the Reds a 51st-minute lead – an advantage they never relinquished as second-placed Adelaide, four points behind Melbourne City and a point clear of Melbourne Victory, stretched a club-record run that dates back to December 20.
The Mariners ended the game with 10 players after Shadeene Evans was sent off just past the hour for a second yellow card, while they could finish outside of the top six by the conclusion of Round 18.
It was a milestone outing for Matilda McNamara, who made her 50th Reds appearance.
There was nothing to separate the two sides in the opening half thanks to Central Coast goalkeeper Sarah Langman.
Langman produced a fine save to thwart Chelsie Dawber in a one-on-one situation nine prior to the interval.
It was a big let-off for the Mariners, but Adelaide were not to be denied early in the second half.
Healy found the back of the net for the Reds six minutes into the second half and the home side did not look back as they held on for maximum points.
