Adelaide United Football Club would like to provide the following update on its players following the conclusion of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

Adelaide United can announce loaned striker, Eli Babalj, has concluded his season-long loan spell with the Club and will now return to his parent club, AZ Alkmaar, in the Eredivisie.

Babalj made eight appearances for the Reds in what was a difficult season for the 24-year-old, after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Brisbane Roar in Round 16.

Babalj will continue his rehabilitation in Europe and the entire Adelaide United family wishes him the best for his recovery.

Meanwhile, Bruce Kamau will depart the Club after stating his desire to pursue other opportunities.

Adelaide United and its coaching staff would like it to be known it was always the Club’s intention to keep Kamau considering he is a local South Australian and considering his development was through Adelaide United’s setup.

However, Kamau, his family, and management, believe it’s best for him to continue his career elsewhere. He made 32 appearances for the Reds since making his senior debut in 2014 and scored three goals..

The Club is currently in discussion with all of its other out-of-contract players, whilst 12 of Adelaide United’s 16-man 2016 Hyundai A-League Grand Final matchday squad are all contracted to remain with the Reds.

The Club is also assessing a number of its Youth Team footballers for the 2016/17 season and beyond.

As a result of United’s historic Championship and Premiership double at the end of the 2015/16 season, a number of footballers are eager to join the Club. However, Adelaide United’s Football Department will take its time in making additions to its First Team to ensure they will be the most appropriate to the Club’s domestic and AFC Champions League aspirations.

The Reds’ senior squad will now officially go on leave before returning for pre-season training on 20 June 2016.
