Adelaide United-s W-League side has further strengthened its squad with the addition of a second New Zealand international, Anna Green.

Green, a 21-year-old full back joins fellow Kiwi international Abby Erceg who joined United last month and is a former New Zealand U20 captain and has chalked up 42 international appearances for her country.

Green participated in New Zealand-s FIFA U20 World Cup campaigns Chile 2008 and Germany 2010, as well as featuring in the 2010 Beijing Olympics.

Her most recent representation for her country was in this year-s FIFA Women-s World Cup in Germany.

The England-born defender admitted she is looking forward to the WWL season as well as linking up with Kiwi team-mate Erceg.

“I am really excited about playing for Adelaide United,” Green said.

“It seems like such a great opportunity to come over here and I-m really looking forward to it.”

“It-s awesome to have some familiar faces around and it will certainly make things a lot easier.”

FFSA Head of Women-s Football and Adelaide United WWL coach David Edmondson acknowledged Green will be a fantastic acquisition to the squad and is looking forward to her partnership in defence with Erceg.

“Anna is another great player with international experience,” Edmondson said.

“She-ll be a good fit in defence working with Abby. Anna is strong defensively but she is also positive going forward.”

“She has been used in the national team in set pieces and she is a good deliverer of the ball. Obviously she has been brought in primarily for her defensive abilities but she will be able to give us a lot going forward.”
