Adelaide United is delighted to finally release “Champions In May, the incredible story of Adelaide United’s greatest triumph, produced by local fan Christopher Adams.
Champions in May chronicles the Reds’ remarkable run to becoming the 2015/16 A-League champions, with first-hand accounts from the athletes who were part of the journey.
Champions in May was produced during a period in which many championship players returned to the club or were available for sit-down interviews locally. The film features significant visual insight, painting a complete picture of the preceding heartbreak and the week-by-week progression of the 2015/16 championship season.
The documentary will premiere on the Adelaide United YouTube Channel this Sunday, May 5th, at 7pm ACT.
Producer Christopher Adams is excited and proud of the release, which marks the eight-year anniversary.
“Creating Champions in May was a dream come true for me as a filmmaker and a fan of Adelaide United. Being in the stands of Coopers Stadium since I was a child, and vividly remembering every moment of the 2016 championship, this film reflects some of my happiest memories as a football fan, and equally the highest point of Adelaide United’s proud history.
“Seeing as there was no comprehensive retelling of the remarkable story in screen form, however, Tim Baker (co-producer) and I set out to right this wrong and provide the loyal supporters of Adelaide United with a timeless account of the highs, lows, forgotten moments, and never-before-heard stories that resulted in the Reds’ first A-League Championship.
“Eight years on from the success of 2016, I’m thrilled to finally release this film to the public. I’d like to give credit to Tim Baker for helping make this film possible as co-producer and thank Adelaide United for providing a platform for Champions in May.”

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, thanks Christopher for his work and dedication on this project.
“The documentary further captures our commitment to being ‘The People’s Club’ and we look forward to sharing this with our fans this Sunday night.
The club offers our sincere gratitude to Chris and Tim for their work.”
