Aloisi lands overseas role with Asian powerhouse

Adelaide United can confirm Assistant Coach, Ross Aloisi, will depart the Reds for an overseas role with an Asian powerhouse.

Aloisi’s last game with Adelaide will be against Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium on Saturday, 2 April.

Aloisi returned to the Club in October 2020, handpicked by Carl Veart to join his backroom staff.

A former Captain of the Club, the 48-year-old amassed 75 appearances between 2003 and 2007.

Aloisi was also in charge of the Reds’ women’s team for the 2013/14 and 2014 seasons.

Speaking on his departure from Adelaide, Aloisi, said: “As a proud South Australian and someone who is extremely passionate about this Club, it was a very tough decision to leave.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to coach the Club that is close to my heart, with such an amazing group of players and I’m extremely thankful to Carl for having me as his assistant.

“I’m extremely proud of what we achieved in these two seasons and I’m convinced this playing group along with Carl’s guidance can make finals and go all the way.”

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Ross’s dedication and passion for the Club has been phenomenal.

“It will be difficult to replace someone of Ross’ tactical awareness and meticulous attention to detail, and all-round contribution.

“While it is sad to see a great friend and excellent coach leave, I’m also extremely excited for him.”

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Kosmina, added: “Just as we support our players furthering their careers overseas, the same applies to our coaching staff.

“Whilst it is disappointing to be losing Ross, it speaks to his pedigree that he has been given an opportunity to continue his coaching journey overseas.

“Ross has been an integral part of the continued on-field and cultural improvement of our Men’s program and he will be sorely missed.

“He leaves with the full support of the Club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

The Club will announce an interim assistant coach imminently.

Everyone at Adelaide United wishes Ross Aloisi all the best for the future in his next chapter.
