Adelaide United boss, Guillermo Amor, described his side’s performance as “perfect” after they easily accounted for Sydney FC 2-0 on Saturday night.
The Reds ensured their Premiership hopes would go down to the final round with a thoroughly deserved victory thanks to Bruce Djite’s first-half brace.
“It was good, was perfect, fantastic. The game, the result, the performance of the team, everything,” said Amor when asked his thoughts on his side’s display.
“For us it was a very good game. Once again the attitude of the players was fantastic.
“We say it all the time but it’s true. These players go and go and for us it’s a pleasure to have this group.”
Djite capitalised on two defensive errors from the Sky Blues for both of his goals, the first a poachers finish from Vedran Janjetovic’s parry and the second a brilliant left-footed volley.
The two goals have taken Djite’s tally to 32 for the Reds, taking him past Travis Dodd as the club’s all-time leading scorer.
“He’s playing very well. He’s scoring different goals and he always wants to play better,” Amor said of his striker.
“Today Bruce was fantastic. He scored two goals and he had two or three more chances. We are very happy with him.”
The Reds have moved back to the top of the table, although both Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City could leapfrog them on Sunday with wins in their respective matches.
Adelaide travels to Melbourne City on Friday night for a huge clash which could potentially decide which club wins the Premiers’ Plate.
Adelaide United will face Melbourne City in Round 27 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Friday, 8 April at AAMI Park. Kick-off is at 7.10pm.
