Adelaide United Head Coach, Guillermo Amor, insists his in-form Reds won’t be getting ahead of themselves despite a 4-1 win away to Brisbane Roar making it eight games since their last defeat.

The decorated former Barcelona midfielder has overseen a reversal of early-season struggles as Adelaide now sit seven points clear of Wellington Phoenix in sixth place.

“The goal is to win the next game,” Amor said.

“Game-to-game, to work and to prepare for this game and no more. We won’t think now about April.

“The same as we did when we were not doing so well, we went game-by-game and step-by-step.”

Bruce Djite inspired United’s response to conceding early in the second half by netting twice in just over 10 minutes, breaking a scoring drought of almost a full 12 months.

Amor lauded the powerful striker’s persistence, but preferred to heap praise on his entire squad’s resilience.

“The result is the work of the team, of the players, that’s the reason,” Amor said.

“Even in the worst moments they never give up. In the bad moments, when the results were not coming, they kept working with the same attitude and intensity.

“They deserve to live what we live today.”
