Adelaide United can confirm defender, Nick Ansell, has had successful surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Ansell ruptured his right Achilles tendon in the latter stages of training last Friday morning and, subsequently, missed the Reds’ most recent Isuzu UTE A-League match against Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium.
Speaking on Ansell’s injury, the Club’s doctor, Dr James Ilic, said: “After assessing Nick’s injury and consultation with a specialist, it was clear that his Achilles tendon ruptured.
“We discussed the varying courses of action and decided surgery was the best option to have Nick recover as effectively and quickly as possible.”
It is expected Ansell will return to competitive football in six-to-nine months.
Everyone at Adelaide United wishes Nick a quick recovery, supporting him every step of the way, and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch soon.
