FFA Cup

The match schedule for the Australia Cup 2022 Round of 32 was released by Football Australia today, with four matches featuring eight Member Federation clubs headlining the first of six scintillating matchdays in this phase of the nation’s largest annual knockout sporting competition.

On Thursday, 21 July, Final Rounds fixtures will be contested in New South Wales, Northern Territory, Victoria, and Western Australia, as the truly national nature of the Australia Cup is showcased to football fans across the country and around the globe.

Every minute of the action will be broadcast live and free on 10 Play, with fans based in Australia able to stream or cast Bentleigh Greens SC from Victoria up against Broadmeadow Magic FC from Northern New South Wales in the night’s main feature match, which will take place at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex in Cheltenham. Supporters living outside of Australia will be able to catch all drama live via the My Football YouTube channel.

The bout between Bentleigh and Broadmeadow will be far from the only action on the opening night, with Mindil Aces FC (Northern Territory) also hosting Avondale FC (Victoria), Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC (New South Wales) welcoming Oakleigh Cannons FC (Victoria), and Armadale SC (Western Australia) taking on Modbury Jets SC (South Australia).

Australia Cup action will continue Wednesday, 27 July with another four fixtures, as Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s outfits enter the fray. Brisbane Roar will be the first A-Leagues club to contest the Round of 32 in this year’s Final Rounds, when they venture to Olympic Village to take on former National Soccer League side and National Second Tier aspirant Heidelberg United in the night’s feature match.

Further Australia Cup 2022 Round of 32 fixtures have been scheduled for Saturday, 30 July, Sunday, 31 July, Tuesday, 2 August, and Wednesday, 3 August. The full match schedule can be viewed below, and via the official Australia Cup website.

Like in 2021, the Australia Cup 2022 will serve as a pathway to Asia, with the winner of the competition granted one of Australia’s slots in the Group Stage of the AFC Cup 2023. The AFC Cup is the second highest level of club football in Asia, sitting below the AFC Champions League.

The winner of the Australia Cup 2022 will be crowned on Saturday, 1 October 2022, when the Final is contested just days prior to the commencement of the eighteenth season of A-League Men.

Melbourne Victory enters the Australia Cup 2022 as the reigning Cup winners, with Tony Popovic’s chargers having won the last ever ‘FFA Cup’ contested in 2021 (Final held on 5 February 2022).
