Adelaide United is pleased to announce that young defender Bailey O’Neil has extended his scholarship contract with the Club for a further season.
The 19-year-old, who joined the Adelaide United Youth Program in 2022, has been a consistent performer in the NPLSA with the Reds’ Youth Team, making 49 appearances across three seasons.
A product of Fulham United, O’Neil played a role in the Youth Team’s 2023 RAA NPLSA Championship triumph and captained the side towards the back end of the 2024 campaign after returning from injury, scoring a spectacular goal against Campbelltown City last season in the process.
On the international stage, he has represented Australia at both U17 (Joeys) and U20 (Young Socceroos) level, accumulating seven caps in total.
Speaking about extending his stay with the Reds, O’Neil said:
“I’m so happy to be staying with Adelaide United for another year. This club means a lot to me, and being able to play and develop here, in front of family, friends, and our fans, is something I’ve always dreamed of.”
Adelaide United Technical Director, Ernest Faber, said O’Neil’s commitment reflects the Club’s belief in his ongoing development.
“Bailey is a proud South Australian full of energy and emotion, a left back who’s in development of discovering his limits through belief, passion, and a strong winning mentality.”
O’Neil will continue to train within the Reds’ professional environment as he strives to take the next step in his career and push for senior selection in the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
