Blackwood enjoying purple patch

George Blackwood spoke to media on Tuesday at Coopers Stadium, reflecting on last weekend’s game and the team’s hopes for a home final.

Advantages of a home final:

“I think it’s massive.

“It’s great for the community to have a home final here and just grow the game more in South Australia, not just to have the support behind us.

“It would be very rewarding and we’re looking to push for that.

“So hopefully, Brisbane can help get the job done for us.

“But if not, we still want to get the win on Sunday.”

Playing his best football:

I think in the games I’ve played, especially some of the games I’ve started, I think I’ve played some of the best football I’ve played.

“I’ve only started eight games and have had five goals so I’m happy with that.

“But it’s not all about goals and for me.

“When I’m up there playing, I look at creating space for the other players as well.

“With a lot of my runs, I will open space for Hiroshi (Ibusuki), Craig (Goodwin) out wide, as well as Lachlan (Brook) on the other side.

“I’m looking at helping the team so that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Playing as the number ten:

“I think that’s probably where I play my best.

“The ten role with the option of having someone like Hiroshi, who likes to come to feet a bit more, to then go in behind as well.

“Carl makes the decisions on where I play and I’ll play wherever because as long as I’m playing I’m happy.”
