Adelaide United FC can confirm that defender Nigel Boogaard will leave the Reds at the end of the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 Season.

Boogaard confirmed this evening that he we would play out the remainder of the season and then leave for the Newcastle Jets.

The 28-year old joined the club in 2010, and has made 105 appearances which included games in the AFC Champions League. He was also part of the squad that won the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup back in December 2014.

Whilst Nigel’s departure will be a loss for the Club, we look forward to his contribution for the remainder of the season.

Adelaide United Chief Executive Officer, Michael Petrillo said that whilst the club was disappointed to lose the reliable defender he understood the reasons why.

“Nigel has been in career best form this season and we were hoping to retain him beyond this current season,” said Petrillo.

“However that’s football and we understand his reasons and we look forward to him continuing his great form with us until the end of this campaign, in what now is a critical period for us.”
