Speaking on The Pitch Podcast, Adelaide United Head Coach, Adrian Stenta, gave his thoughts ahead of the Reds’ mid-week match against Melbourne City.
Navigating a short turnaround between fixtures, Stenta sat with Jarrod Walsh to discuss Wednesday night’s match-up with City at Gepps Cross.
Reflecting on the loss to Canberra:
“It was a big game.
“Over the last two and a bit seasons, we actually haven’t lost two regular season games in a row before.
“This is the first time that that’s happened for this group, so we’ve usually been a pretty good at bouncing back from a loss.
“The most frustrating thing about it was, for the majority of the game, I was reasonably happy with how we played.
“We just, again, found it difficult to score goals and just couldn’t find a way to hit the back of the net.”
Mentality ahead of City:
“We always go in with a similar mindset, which is to be positive, to be brave, to take the game on, to try and look for those big moments in games that often decide games… and try and make the most of those.
“And the other thing is to continue to try and be a team that’s really, really difficult to score against.
“For the most part of the season, we have been, it’s just the last couple of games where we’ve started to concede a couple more goals.”
