Adelaide United’s creative midfielder, Marcelo Carrusca, believes the Reds have to improve upon last week’s performance when they face Western Sydney Wanderers at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night if they want to continue their good start to the season.

“We have to do what we have been doing,” Carrusca said.

“Maybe if we compare with our last game (against Melbourne Victory), we had two own-goals and it was an unlucky game.

“The first 20 minutes we didn’t play well, but after that we kept the ball and played better, creating chances and we scored. So we’ll play the same style, but (we’ll be) ready for the first minutes and wont make mistakes.

“We lost, but its normal. Every team can lose, but we have to be confident, try to win again and at home, with our supporters, I think they’ll help us (a lot).

Despite the Wanderers being without a win so far this Hyundai A-League campaign, the side did win the Asian Champions League last month and Carrusca said that this proves the quality they possess, with both clubs undoubtedly preparing for a difficult match.

“We know that they might not be in a good moment right now in the league, but they won the Asian Champions League,” he explained.

“They’re a strong team and have a strong defence that is compact. We have to try to find the gaps between the lines to try to punish them.

“We must be careful because they have good players, so we’ll do our jobs by playing our style and our football and try to win – this is our objective.

Carrusca went on to commend the support he and his teammates receive from their dedicated supporters each week, stating that the passion of the fans helps to drive the players on and produce good, enjoyable football.

“(Having) our supporters is a (positive) thing and we need the people to come to (Coopers Stadium) to support us. We will do our best and try to show good football that the people enjoy.

“We believe in our (football) and what we are doing. As I said before, with our fans (we have to play better) and at home we have to play to win.”
