Marcelo Carrusca talks about the excitement in playing Málaga CF.

While Málaga CF arrived in Adelaide yesterday evening, the Reds’ own preparations for the clash against the La Liga side are fully underway.

Speaking after the team’s training session at Santos Stadium yesterday morning, Marcelo Carrusca explained that the team is very prepared and excited for the match.

“We have been preparing for the game since it was announced three weeks ago.

“I don’t know how we’ll go and it’ll be a difficult game. This is a friendly so I hope everyone can enjoy the game and us playing.

“It is one of the best games a player can play.”

Carrusca is hopeful that the game will exhibit the best of Adelaide’s playing style from last season on the night against a Spanish side adapted to possession-based football.

“We are aiming to continue to play the way Josep wants since he came to he club which is to keep the ball and create chances.”

He is personally excited to be featuring in the match against Málaga as he dreamed of playing in the Spanish La Liga while growing up.

“For me and the other players it’s a great opportunity to do our best because we are being watched in television in Spain as well.

“The La Liga is one of the best leagues in the world so it’s exciting that those teams could be watching.”

And speaking ahead of the upcoming Hyundai A-League season, Carrusca is confident that the team will be able to cope with the added pressure to perform in Gombau’s second year.

“Josep came here last year and it was difficult for him to build one style and change everything. After the first 10 games we started to understand the way he wanted us to play.

“I hope and I believe in this team and the coach and I believe that we are going to have a good season.”
