Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, has been named in the Socceroos 26-man squad to represent Australia at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

After a blistering start to the Isuzu UTE A-League 2022/23 season, the Reds’ talisman will head to his first World Cup, which commences for Australia against France at 5:40am ACDT on Wednesday, 23 November 2022.

Goodwin said: “This is one of the proudest moments in my life.

“To be heading to a World Cup is just incredible and I cannot be more excited.

“I have worked my entire life for an opportunity to represent my country on the world’s biggest sporting stage and I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point, but, first and foremost, my fiancé, Katelyn, my son, Ezra, and my family and friends.

Craig Goodwin scored a penalty in the Socceroos’ penalty shootout to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

“Before I go, we have an important match against Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium and I’m desperate to head off with another three points.”

After securing qualification for the fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup, sixth appearance in total, the Socceroos will be looking to progress through the group stages for the first time since 2006.
