Adelaide United goalkeeper Daniel Margush has been called up to Australia’s squad for the forthcoming AFC U-23 Championship in Thailand after Sydney FC shot-stopper Thomas Heward-Belle was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Heward-Belle sustained an injury in Sunday evening’s Foxtel Y-League encounter against Central Coast Mariners in Kogarah and following assessment over the past 48 hours it has been determined that he won’t be fit to participate in the tournament.

Margush will join his teammates Kuala Lumpur ahead of their friendly against Korea Republic on Friday, before the team travels to Bangkok on Saturday.
