D’Arrigo and Reds gearing up for Victory test

ouis D’Arrigo says Sunday’s win over Western United has the squad in the best position to take on Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium.

Adelaide United midfielder, Louis D’Arrigo, says Sunday’s win over Western United has the squad in the best position to take on Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium.

The Reds will face their fiercest rivals on Remembrance Day in Hindmarsh – the first evening/night fixture since Coopers’ renovations and significant upgrades.

21-year-old D’Arrigo, who has started every competitive match this season for United, says he and his teammates can take a lot from Sunday’s win over the reigning Champions.

Away day wins:
“We’re feeling really good.

“It was good to get the three points away from home against a tough team in Western United.

“It’s always a tough place to go and take (points) away from home, but it was good to get the three points and it gives us good confidence going into the game against Victory on Friday.

“It was sketchy at the start (and) it was good to see the offside flag went up (for Dylan Wenzel-Halls opening chance).

“But it was good to settle the nerves with the goal from Hiro (Ibusuki) and then from there the game was ours.”

His own performances:
“It (his performance against Western) was not bad.

“I’m trying to be as confident as I can and play as consistently as can.

“My team goals are to be as consistent as I can (for the team), but also, as a personal note, I want to try and reach 100 games (for the Club) by the end of the season and I need to keep (pushing) for that.

“I feel like I’ve slotted in well (into our midfield) and I feel really confident.

Mark Milligan giving Louis D’Arrigo advice at the VALO Training Centre.

“(Assistant Coach) Mark Milligan’s come in and has been teaching me things that I can improve on and I feel like my game is getting to the next level.

“I just want to take game by game and get better as the game goes on.”

Facing Victory on Friday:
“We’re very excited.

“It’s always a really good game against our rivals, Melbourne Victory.

“All I can say is I hope that all our fans come out and be our twelfth man as usual and we can’t wait to get out there and get three points for them.”
