Adelaide United forward, Zach Clough, spoke to media at Coopers Stadium on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s match with Western Sydney Wanderers.

Scoring the Reds’ first in a three-goal comeback against Western United last weekend, Clough was instrumental in the win and earned a deserved man of the match award by pundits and Adelaide United members alike.

Speaking on the game and looking ahead to the next testing encounter, Clough was open about Head Coach, Carl Veart’s, half time disappointment, whilst also candid about how he has progressed in Red since first signing for the Club.

Reflecting on last weekend:
“The boss was disappointed with the way we played in the first half.

“It was probably a bit slow in possession, we probably lacked a little bit of the intensity that we have when we’re at our best.

“In the second half I think you could tell that the message (at half time) was the intensity needed to be lifted.

“We need to move the ball quicker and we scored three goals and came away with three points.”

His own performances:
“I feel really good.

“I was obviously unlucky with the quad injury in October, but I’m starting to feel really good and I’m recovering well after games now.

“I feel really sharp, really strong, and I’m enjoying my football.

“My fitness is probably what hinders (me) sometimes because of small injuries, small niggles, but my confidence is coming back and I feel probably like my old self again.

“I think most attacking players need (confidence).

“Consistency is probably what you need the most in football and I need to find that and hopefully I can keep keep showing this consistency.”

Facing Wanderers:
“It’s a huge game for us.

“It’s obviously third vs fourth and we know they’re a good side.

“They’re a strong, physical side and we’re going to put a game plan together this week to go and get get the three points.”
