Mohamed Toure was absolutely delighted after scoring a dramatic winner to help Adelaide United secure a third straight victory.
The Reds edged Newcastle Jets 2-1 after George Blackwood’s third minute opener was initially cancelled out in the second-half by Angus Thurgate.
Toure admitted he was thrilled to score for the second successive game and most importantly come away with the three points and move back into third place.
“It’s amazing,” he told Paramount+ after the match.
“It’s everyone’s dream to score a late winner especially at Coopers (Stadium) in front of the best fans in the league.
“I’m really happy we got the three points which is the most important.”
It is not the first time the prodigy has come off the bench and scored a late winner this season.
Against Melbourne City he gave the Reds a 2-1 lead after an 85th minute finish.
In fact, all three of Toure’s goals this season have proven to be the decisive goals – translating into nine points for Adelaide as his goal last week versus Perth Glory also secured a 2-1 triumph.
The 17-year-old made a run to the near post and managed to elevate his boot and guide Craig Goodwin’s brilliant cross in off the post, sending Coopers Stadium into pandemonium.
“My (assistant) coach Ross (Aloisi) always tells me to get through the front post,” he revealed.
“So I thought Goody is about to cross so I just ran to the front post and I got a flick on.”
