Adelaide United FC is delighted to announce that defender Tarek Elrich has signed a contract extension for a further two-seasons.
Elrich was set to come off contract at the end of this season and confirmed today that Adelaide United is the club he wants to continue his career with.
The 27 year olds new deal will keep him at the Reds until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 Season under the guidance of coach Josep Gombau.
“It’s great that the club and coach give you confidence as a player,” said Elrich.
“As long as I am enjoying my football and the fact that Josep is making me feel very welcome, it gives me confidence again as a player. And as long as he is here, I was happy to stay.”
Turning his attention to the rest of the season and following the Club’s Westfield FFA Cup Final berth, silverware is one of the main objectives on his list.
“As a player and being here, silverware is the main thing on my list,” said Elrich.
“We’ve had a good start and even though it’s still early days, for me it’s about making Adelaide one of the best teams in the league.
“And with the coaching staff and players we’ve got here, and hopefully a few of the boys who are out of contract remain, we can build a great club.”
The man behind Elrich’s rejuvenation as a player, Head Coach Josep Gombau was extremely excited with the prospect of coaching him for a further two-seasons.
“I am so happy that he extended his contract,” said Gombau.
“He is a player that provides to us a lot of things. He can play different positions and as a person his role in the changerooms is very important.
“I am very satisfied he has accepted our offer and he is a very good addition to our Club for the next two seasons.
The announcement of Elrich’s re-signing is a significant boost for the Reds following their Westfield FFA Cup semi-final win over Central Coast Mariners on Wednesday night.
