Adelaide United Youth currently sit in second place of the Group A standings in the Foxtel National Youth League, following emphatic back-to-back wins, and will be looking to reciprocate their recent performances as they come up against the Roar this weekend.

The Young Reds were graced with glory against Perth Glory Youth, with an impressive 3-1 win, while Brisbane Roar had their match with Melbourne City postponed until further notice, which could possibly see them at a disadvantage with missing a game.

Although, the Roar could come out blazing, as three points could see them claim second spot over Adelaide United, meanwhile, the Reds could potentially earn top spot with a win.

Adelaide United Youth Boss, Skenderovic, emphasised on his optimism of the National Youth League season, as his side have rocketed to a flying start to their campaign, but added there is always room for improvement, which can only assist in success for the Club.

“I was definitely impressed with the performance last week against Perth Glory, and for a good 65 minutes I was really happy with the efforts of the boys,” Skenderovic said. “I think they demonstrated the ability to really press the ball in the areas required, retain the ball well, and play it forward as much as possible, which is good to see.

“The key areas that we have worked on and have identified, is our finishing, so I think we’ll need to continue to work on that, and be consistent in finishing our good opportunities off with goals.

“Also being able to retain the ball better in key areas, and we can’t always just knock out a long ball, it needs to be constructed, and direct football.”

Skenderovic noted that a tough challenge away from home at A.J Kelly Park is imminent, but affirmed that the team are lavishing in confidence.

“We will try our best to get another win, away from home this week against Brisbane Roar, and we would also like to amount the pressure on the current league leaders (Melbourne City), which would be ideal for us,” Skenderovic continued.

“It will be tough, because I know Brisbane are a very good team also, and playing away from home is always going to be a bit difficult.

“But I’m sure, with the way we have trained this week, there is a lot of confidence within the playing group, so fingers crossed we can come home with a win.

“And that is what back-to-back wins does, it gives you that confidence that is needed to progress forward and win football games, which we hope to continue to do.”

Adelaide United Youth Team will take on Brisbane Roar on Sunday, 11 December 2016 in Round 5 of the Foxtel National Youth League 2016/17 season at A.J. Kelly Field. Kick-off is at 11:00am ACDT.
