After scoring the winner in Adelaide United Youth’s victory over Brisbane Roar, Aladin Irabona is hoping to make an impact again against Melbourne City Youth on Friday.

The speedster came off the bench against the Roar and immediately affected the game, scoring what proved to be the winning goal a minute after conceding.

It was a rather simple finish but one that required composure in such a high-pressure situation with Adelaide down to 10 men.

“That was my first goal of the NYL season,” Irabona said.

“So I was ecstatic when I scored it but obviously coming off the bench it’s pretty hard especially in those situations, in the conditions we were in with one man down.

“But I just did my part for the team and we got the result in the end.”

Irabona had missed the beginning of the Foxtel Y-League season due to surgery on an injured ankle.

He said that he was looking to move on from the setback and continue to build fitness.

“I had just come back from ankle surgery so I was still trying to get back into the flow of things,” he revealed.

“And Melbourne Victory away was my first game, but I’m all good now and just getting back into the swing of things.”

Adelaide tackle City Youth at Marden Sports Complex in the final game of the season, preceding Adelaide United Women’s Westfield W-League match against Newcastle Jets.

Irabona was anticipating an extremely difficult contest based on their corresponding meeting in Round 7.

“It should be a very tough game,” he said.

“When we travelled over there they gave us a hard game.

“Obviously we couldn’t win that day but this is a new game, but it’s going to be a very challenging game.”

However, with the prospect of reaching the summit of Conference A to qualify for the Grand Final slim, Irabona said they will simply be determined to end the campaign on a positive note ahead of the impending NPL.

“It’s been a pretty decent season just a couple of results that didn’t go our way,” he continued.

“But I think we’re just looking to finish off strong and looking forward to the NPL season.”
