A 95th minute goal from Daniele Bressan has given Adelaide United Youth a dramatic 3-2 win over Melbourne City Youth at Jack Smith Park on Saturday.
Adam Leombruno fired the Young Reds into the lead before half-time, but the advantage was immediately cancelled out after the re-start.
Binyam Kebede put the Reds in front through sheer persistence on 57 minutes only for United to be again pegged back by the visitors.
But with seconds remaining, Bressan received the ball following a turnover, finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper to clinically dispatch his finish.
Inside a minute Carlo Armiento almost broke the deadlock after Jai King played an incisive ball to winger and he saw a powerful shot whistle past the post.
That early chance set the tone for the majority of the first-half as it remained a rather open game, albeit without a host of clear-cut chances besides the goal.
Kebede had two decent chances to open the scoring, but that was a distant memory when Leombruno unleashed a brilliant low drive into the bottom corner in the 39th minute.

However, the beginning of the second-half did not go according to plan with Adelaide conceding a minute after the re-start. Idrus Abdulahi tapped in a cutback from close range.
Kebede would eventually etch his name on the scoresheet courtesy of a sensational solo run, coupled with a bit of fortune.
He dispossessed the defender and ran at goal, only to lose control of the ball, before getting it back via sheer determination and expertly slotting his shot beyond the City gloveman.
City equalised 12 minutes from full-time when Jordi Valadon capitalised on a half clearance from the onrushing Dakota Ochsenham.
The Reds goalkeeper saw his clearance get blocked and fall to the Melbourne forward, who chipped his effort from 22 yards into an empty net.
In the 87th minute, Armiento squandered a golden chance to win the match, after missing from six yards out.
Though it proved inconsequential in the end as Bressan bagged the deserved winner to secure a second victory of the Foxtel Y-League season.
Adelaide United Youth face Brisbane Roar Youth in Round 5 of the Foxtel Y-League 2019/20 season on Saturday, 14 December at AJ Kelly Park. Kick-off is at 11.00am ACDT.
