Adelaide United Youth has been held to a 0-0 draw against Melbourne City Youth at CB Smith Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

It was a game of few chances which was ultimately indicative of the scoreline with the result doing little to help Adelaide secure top spot of Conference A.

The Young Reds had two decent opportunities to open the scoring in quick succession but were denied by two strong saves from City’s goalkeeper.

Jai King and Binyam Kebede each had half chances in the second-half though could not convert, before the hosts threatened late on.

In the 88th minute, Cameron Cook produced an instinctive save to deny Samuel Morrison’s shot which was bound for the top corner, keeping the clean sheet intact.

The Reds remain in third place on 10 points, trailing second place Melbourne Victory (13 points) and next weekend’s opponents, front-runners, Brisbane Roar Youth (14 points) with two matches left.
