Following FFA Cup success midweek, the Reds travelled to Newcastle to face the Jets in Round 3 of the Hyundai A-League. Hot and windy conditions and a 1-0 lead for Newcastle made it difficult but a second-half tactical shift and two goals from Riley McGree, including one direct from a corner, turned it around finishing 2-1 to the Reds.
