Scott Galloway’s incredible resurgence this season for Adelaide United is a testament to his determination and work ethic.

Galloway’s career as a professional footballer was hanging in the balance after his contract expired with Wellington Phoenix at the end of last season.

But following a successful trial at the Reds, Galloway has excelled at left-back for Marco Kurz’s team.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation this campaign, starting all of Adelaide’s 24 matches across both competitions.

“For me it’s been personally my best season that I’ve played as a professional footballer,” Galloway told reporters at a press conference.

“Confidence-wise, ability-wise (I’ve loved) everything with the team (and) the coach. For me it’s been a fantastic move.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m looking forward to continue progressing and hopefully getting better for the rest of the season and into Finals.”

Galloway was one of the standout performers for United, despite their 3-1 defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers at the weekend.

The defender admitted it was a missed opportunity to strengthen their top four aspirations, after Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory were held to draws, while Melbourne City lost.

“It wasn’t a good result for us,” he said.

“It’s an opportunity lost to put pressure on the teams above us and to start to drift away from the teams below us.

“So we’ve looked at the game, we’ve looked at the mistakes that we made and things that we’ve to improve on, and we’ve got a week of training to improve that.”

Adelaide will aim to bounce back against Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday.

“Right now we haven’t spoken about them (Newcastle Jets),” he said.

“The first few days back we just concentrate on the game that just went, but the focus has now switched to preparing for that game throughout the week.

“We’ll look at how they play, but we’ve only played them not long ago so it’s kind of still fresh in the boys’ minds.”

The Reds are unbeaten in their two encounters with the Jets this term.

Galloway said they will be targeting the three points against a side sitting in seventh spot.

“We’ve had two good results against them,” he continued.

“We played them in the second game of the season and got a draw and possibly could’ve got more.

“And we got a good win away there, so we’ll look to get the three points again and just concentrate on our game and how we play.

“We know if we do what we can do it doesn’t matter who we play.”

Adelaide United face Newcastle Jets in Round 20 of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season on Sunday, 24 February at McDonald Jones Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.30pm ACDT. Live on Fox Sports, and streamed on the My Football Live App and Kayo Sports.
