Gombau: We are ready for the Perth heat

Adelaide United coach Josep Gombau is confident the Reds can match league leaders Perth Glory in the west tomorrow despite the scheduled 40-degree heat.

The match has been postponed half an hour to better combat the extreme temperature and Gombau has said that the players will do the best that they can.

“We need to follow the schedule given to us and we are not complaining, we will prepare and do the best that we can.”

“Every moment is different and so you can always prepare but you never know what can happen.”

The Reds are facing a Glory side that is currently seven points clear at the top of the table and Gombau has stated that he will be taking it game by game.

“Perth are the best team in numbers and they know very well what they want out of a match.

“Every team is fighting to be in the finals and to go to Asia, if you win three or four games in this league you can be in the top positions.”

Adelaide United will be boosted by the return of several key players missing from last week’s defeat against Wellington Phoenix.

Elrich and Boogaard return from suspensions, while Carrusca, Malik and Ferreira are expected to be involved in the coming matches after suffering injuries.

Our fixture against Perth is the last game before the Asian Cup break, a rest Gombau says will be good for his players.

“We have been training since July 1 last year so I only see this break as a positive.

“It will be good to have players come back with a fresh mind after a long pre-season with a lot of games.”
