Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, says he and his teammates must continue to improve following their 1-1 draw with Sydney FC on Friday evening.

Goodwin deflected effort just after half time broke the deadlock in the match, before the visitors pulled a goal back later on.

Speaking to Paramount+ post-game, Goodwin reflected on the encounter, finding some positives in the performance.

Goodwin said:
“I wouldn’t say we ‘switched off’, perhaps we got a little bit disjointed at times.

“We did lose control a little bit, which is something I’ve spoken about before – five, ten minute patches in games where we don’t have the control.

“We want to do better.

“Last week, we were good in patches and got a good result.

“This week, we were good in large parts, but I think (Sydney) made it difficult for us and sat in a lot.

“So we had to take our time to find the spaces, but it’s another game unbeaten and we’re building some good momentum coming into the finals.

“We have another two home games out of the three (games we have left) and we’re going to push as hard as we can.

“At the end of the day, we want to win our games, especially at home, but a draw is a good result at this point.

“It’s another point towards cementing our spot for a top two finish.”
