Adelaide United is delighted to announce Craig Goodwin will remain at the Club for the upcoming A-League 2021/22 season following an extension of his loan from Saudi Professional League club Al-Wehda.
Goodwin was loaned to the Reds in February and played an instrumental role in Adelaide’s finals push, scoring eight goals in 18 matches to claim the Golden Boot.
In his three-and-a-half seasons with the Reds over three separate stints, the 29-year-old has won an A-League Premiership and Championship double in 2016 as well as the FFA Cup in 2018.
An Aurelio Vidmar Medallist in 2016, Goodwin has scored a total of 33 goals in 110 appearances in all competitions for United.
Speaking on extending his stay in Adelaide, Goodwin said: “This is my hometown and I’m delighted to be staying here.
“My rehab on my ankle is tracking well and I’m really excited about what the upcoming season holds for our Club.
“The foundations were laid last year for us to continue to be a threat in the league and it’s an exciting feeling to be in red again.
“I’m hoping to come back stronger and help the team claim more silverware.”
Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “Retaining Craig’s services for the upcoming season is a massive coup for the Club.
“Craig is a player with an enormous amount of pedigree and experience and importantly he is a match-winner.
“During his shortened time with us last season, Craig showcased why he is one of the best players in the competition and we’re thrilled to have him back.
“I know the squad are excited to have Craig back, but the fans should be just as exited to see him at Coopers for another season.”
