Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, says he is proud to have claimed his third Aurelio Vidmar Medal – his second consecutive award.
The Vidmar Medal wasn’t the only award Goodwin was bestowed on Tuesday night at the Alagich Vidmar Awards for 2023, the forward also collecting the UCAN A-League Men Golden Boot and A-League Men Players’ Player awards.
To-date this campaign, Goodwin has noticed up 12 goals and 10 assists leading into Friday night’s Elimination Final on Friday at Coopers Stadium.
Speaking to media on Wednesday afternoon, Goodwin gave his thoughts after another successful “awards season” for the 31-year-old.
Goodwin said:
“It’s a very proud moment for myself to be able to win Players’ Player and the Aurelio Vidmar Medal.
“To have that recognition from my peers and from everyone who voted is really special to me.
“I know I’ve had a very, very good season, but I think this year, as a group, we’ve had a very good year as well.
“It’s been our best finish since the Grand Final-winning year, so there were definitely other players that are deserving of (the Vidmar Medal) as well and deserve the credit.
“So I’m very grateful to the group and the fact that we’ve had such a good year as a team because it helps me be able to lift and reach another level as well.
“I think I’ve built on what I was able to do last year and it has been a very, very good year for me individually.
“But like I always say, I want the team success and when the team success is there, all the individuals flourish within a team, so hopefully we can have a really, really good push in this finals series.”
