Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, has spoken following Thursday night’s Dolan Warren Awards for 2023.
After an outstanding 2022/23 season, Goodwin was rightfully named the 2023 Johnny Warren Medallist, after his Head Coach, Carl Veart, was also awarded Men’s Coach of the Year.
Goodwin led the Reds to a third-place finish in the Isuzu UTE A-League, scoring 15 goals and provided 10 assists.
Goodwin said:
“It’s a really nice personal moment for me.
“I’m really proud to be able to be named against some of the greats that have won this award in the past.
“I don’t know whether it’s just coincidence or timing, but since I’ve been with my fiancee, Katelyn, my game on the pitch has seemed to go from strength to strength.
“But I think, for me, most of the credit, obviously I put in the hard work, but most of the credit goes down to the coaching staff that we have at Adelaide and the players as well.
“The environment that we have (at Adelaide) is something that’s helped me flourish.
“The personal accolades are always nice, but I think it’s a very strong reflection for me of what the group has done.
“I think it’s very difficult for an individual to achieve success if the team isn’t achieving some sort of success.
“So I obviously dedicate this to, first and foremost, my family but to my teammates and my coaching staff as well.”
