Adelaide United Captain, Craig Goodwin, says whilst his side is being ruthless in front of goal, they’re still hungry for further improvements.
United saw-off Wellington Phoenix in emphatic fashion on Friday night, running-out 5-1 winners at Coopers Stadium.
Goodwin was instrumental throughout the 90 minutes and was rightfully awarded man of the match by the Paramount+ pundits at full-time.
The Reds’ Captain provided the pin-point cross for Lachlan Barr’s header in the 51st minute, while also popping-up to nab his 10th goal this A-League season.
Speaking post-match, Goodwin admitted that while overall form is positive – Carl Veart’s side unbeaten in 10 games – Adelaide’s desperation to improve further is driving further growth.
Goodwin said:
“To be honest, we were looking for a little bit of revenge from the first two games away (from home).
“We drew the first one, but didn’t play that well, and then we got bopped in the second, going down to ten men.
“It was a little bit of revenge, but we’re in a good run of form and I still think our performance wasn’t our best tonight.
“But we’re still being ruthless in the key moments and I think that’s making the difference.
“We’re still hungry and we still want that ‘perfect’ 90 minutes, so to speak.
“We don’t have to be in control of the ball the whole time, but we need to be in control of the game, so if we’re sitting in, we need to be comfortable, we need to be okay to suffer at times.”
