Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, says whilst his side’s win over league-leaders, Melbourne City, on Friday night was positive, the Reds have work to do, yet, before calling themselves a finished product.
Goals from Lachlan Barr, Craig Goodwin, Louis D’Arrigo, and Nestory Irankunda put City to the sword at Coopers, United coming from a goal down early in the match to claim a valuable three points.
Speaking to media post-match, Veart gave his summation of the game overall, a game which has Adelaide sitting in second on the ladder.
Veart said:
“I think it was a great game, a very open game.
“Both teams had a lot of attacks, but, I suppose, at the end of the day, the game was at a high tempo, the referee allowed the game to flow, which allowed it to be such a good game.
“They’re an excellent side and it just took us a little while to adjust to the pressure that they were putting on us to play through.
“Once we started to play through that pressure, we then started to have a little bit more belief in ourselves.
“We’re a very good side at home.
“We’ve shown that this year and we showed it again tonight that, at home, we’re very difficult to play against.
“But it’s just the one off game tonight.
“We still (have) a lot of work to do… there’s still room for us to improve ourselves.
“So, look, we will enjoy tonight and then refocus on Monday and get ready for Newcastle next week.”
