Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, says he is very happy to have agreed to a new three-year contract with the Club, ahead of Friday’s match with Sydney FC at Coopers Stadium.
Speaking to media ahead of the clash with the Sky Blues, Veart touched on his overriding emotions after putting pen-to-paper and looking ahead to a brighter future at the Reds.
New contract feels:
“It seems like it’s been a long time (coming), but I’m very happy that it’s been sorted out and we can now focus on doing the job for the rest of this season.
“This is my team and I’ve said from the first day that I started coaching here that I wanted to be here a long, long time.
“So this (contract) gives me another three years of exciting football, hopefully, and then hopefully another (contract) after that.”
Club progression:
“Since I’ve come on board and working closely with Nathan (Kosmina), and Bruce (Djite) for time, and then Vito (Basile), we’ve got a very clear direction where we want to go.
“(The Club) has given me the backing to follow that direction and we can see the benefits of what’s happening now with young players coming through.
“That’s not going to change; that’s going to be very evident in the way our sides are selected over the coming three years.”
Unbeaten streak:
“It’s important that we always look at where we’ve been and where we need to improve to get to where we want to get to.
“It’s a mindset thing and it’s important that we take pride in that 11 game unbeaten record and keep pushing forward to extend it to the end of the season.
“We definitely talk about it and we take great pride in it and great fight because it doesn’t happen without the maximum effort from the players.
“I think that was clearly evident last week against the Wanderers, which was a very difficult game and when you look at the way we finished that game with ten South Australian boys on the pitch, that’s something that we’re very proud of.”
Sydney’s test:
“They’re a very good side, they create a lot of opportunities.
“I suppose when you look at the amount of opportunities that they’ve created over the season, they just haven’t rewarded themselves.
“It’s important that we defend very well against them because they’re attacking and they’ve got a lot of threats up forward.”
