As Adelaide United prepare for their Quarter Final clash with Heidelberg United in the Westfield FFA Cup 2017 in under a fortnight, we take a closer look at some of Heidelberg United’s statistics across this season.

The Warriors finished as inaugural Minor Premiers of the National Premier Leagues Victoria with 54 points and six points clear of their nearest opponents, South Melbourne and Avondale FC.

Heidelberg won 17 matches, played out three draws and recorded six defeats in 26 games.

The Bergers were also the highest scoring team in the competition bagging 53 goals, while boasting the equal-fourth stingiest defence.

Striker Kenjok Athiu netted 19 goals during the regular season to take out the Golden Boot Award.

Sean Ellis was the second-highest league scorer with nine, while ex-Melbourne Heart and Perth Glory player Adrian Zahra notched up six goals.

In July, the club clinched its first-ever Dockerty Cup, prevailing 5-4 on penalties against Bentleigh Greens after proceedings ended 1-1 at the conclusion of extra-time.

However, on route to their local cup final, Heidelberg outscored their opposition 17-2 – which included a 5-0 victory over Hume City in the semi-final.

In this year’s instalment of the Westfield FFA Cup, the Bergers shocked Perth Glory 1-0 in the Round of 32, thanks to a second-half Athiu strike.

In the Round of 16, they overcame Sydney United 58 FC 3-4 on spot-kicks to advance to the last eight as the match was deadlocked at 1-1 after 120 minutes of action.

Adelaide United will face Heidelberg United in the Quarter Finals of the 2017 Westfield FFA Cup on Wednesday, 13 September at Olympic Village. Kick-off is at 7.00pm ACST.
