Isaías has lauded the younger players in the squad for their performance in Adelaide United’s 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers on Wednesday night.

The Reds were severely undermanned missing a host of first-team regulars and therefore presenting an opportunity to some of the younger players in the squad.

One of the youngsters who impacted the match was none other than 18-year-old Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, who netted the equaliser off the bench with his maiden goal for the Club.

Isaías was thrilled the new-look side managed to get a result away from home, particularly praising the contributions from the fringe players.

“We’re really pleased because we missed a few players,” he told Fox Sports following the game.

“But we showed that every player in the squad can play and can help us and every player played very good and I’m very happy of the performance in the team.”

Isaías unsurprisingly collected the NAB Man of the Match Award, following another impressive display especially during the second-half.

The 30-year-old was happy with his form and attributed his personal success to his teammates and coaching staff.

“I’m very happy and very proud at the moment with myself,” he said.

“But I know that every player in the team is helping me to perform in that way and I need to say thanks to all my teammates and coaching staff.”

With United currently occupying fourth spot in the table, the Spaniard said it was important to focus on one match at a time instead of thinking too far into the future.

“We would like to go step-by-step,” he continued.

“I prefer to think game-by-game there are still a lot of games to go so step-by-step.”

Adelaide United host Sydney FC in Round 16 of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season on Sunday, 14 January at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 6.30pm ACDT.
