On Monday, 9 December 2024, the independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Alan Contini – convened to consider an incident arising out of the Isuzu UTE A-League Men matches played on Saturday, 7 December 2024, in relation to Ben Folami of Adelaide United FC.

The independent MRP considered an incident in relation to Ben Folami (Folami) of Adelaide United FC (Adelaide) in or around the 63rd minute of Adelaide’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men match against Newcastle Jets FC on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
In accordance with the A-Leagues Disciplinary Regulations (the Regulations), the MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Folami was issued with a direct Red Card by the Referee.
The MRP determined that Folami committed the offence of “Serious unsporting conduct”. The Minimum Sanction for the offence is one (1) match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension. The MRP confirmed that Folami will serve a suspension of one (1) match being the Minimum Sanction for the offence, before being available for Adelaide’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men match against Sydney FC on Friday, 20 December 2024.
