Adelaide United is delighted to announce it has signed proud South Australian, Jay Barnett on a two-and-a-half year contract.
The deal will see Barnett remain a Red until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old midfielder joins from Melbourne Victory where he made 43 appearances since joining in 2019 from Brisbane Roar, where he made a further three appearances.
Born in Adelaide, Barnett said: “I’m very excited to be coming home to South Australia and to be joining Adelaide United.
“I grew up supporting United and to now be representing them is very special to me and my family.
“And to be playing in front of my family and friends weekly is going to be an amazing feeling – I can’t wait to get started.”
United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “I’ve known Jay for a number of years since coming through the SA NTC program when he was younger.
“Jay has continued to develop very well and we’re really happy to be bringing home another South Australian.
“The work ethic and drive he has gotten him to this point, but now it’s about pushing on and taking that next step, which we believe he can achieve while with us.”
