Adelaide United’s Bruce Kamau and Stefan Mauk have both been nominated for the Professional Footballers Australia A-League Player of the Month for February.
Outstanding young Australian talent dominates as Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) announces the nominees for the PFA A-League Player of the Month for February.
Having scored 11 goals between them, the six nominees were selected by an awards committee made up of former Socceroos and leading figures in the Australian football media.
The PFA A-League Footballer of the Month nominees for February are:
- Bruce Kamau, Adelaide United;
- Stefan Mauk, Adelaide United;
- Blake Powell, Wellington Phoenix;
- Aaron Mooy, Melbourne City;
- Matthieu Delpierre, Melbourne Victory; and
- Diego Castro, Perth Glory.
Having starred in Adelaide United’s unbeaten February, Kamau and Mauk have been instrumental in the Reds’ surge up the table. Scoring twice in four games, Kamau netted the winner against Melbourne Victory, with the recently named NAB Young Player of the Month, Mauk, on target once.
Despite the Victory having endured a frustrating month in the A-League, Delpierre’s nomination caps a host of extremely impressive performances from the French defender.
PFA President Matt McKay hailed the nominees and said it was encouraging to see a host of exciting young Australian players amongst them.
“The likes of Stefan, Bruce, Blake and Aaron highlight the bright future of Australian football,” said McKay.
“With the 2017 Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, this is extremely encouraging.
“Finally I would like to congratulate all the nominees who been integral in what has been a fantastic month on the pitch.”
