Bruce Kamau says the Reds are confident their momentum can continue in the coming weeks, with Brisbane Roar their next opponents.
Adelaide United’s victory against Melbourne Victory on Friday night came at the feet of Bruce Kamau who managed to net his first Hyundai A-League goal, giving the Reds the three points and extending his side’s undefeated streak to 12 matches.
Kamau stated he was pleased to have taken the opportunity to help his teammates at such a crucial moment in the match, adding that the win would also be vital for the Reds’ remaining 2015/16 fixtures.
“It’s important going into the finals that we look to get as many points as possible and see where we end up at the end of the regular season,” Kamau said. “It was good to get this win against Victory.
“(Guillermo) Amor said that it is good to push on quickly and catch teams when they are out of position and I thought I would do just that, push on and get myself into a good position, and the ball happened to come where I was so I took the opportunity.
“It was good to get some space inside of the box, which doesn’t happen too often.
“The support from the fans was great, especially away against Melbourne and the numbers were out there, so thanks to the fans.
“And now our main focus is the next game and getting ready for Brisbane.”
Kamau has the belief that United’s recent dominance of the competition can continue ahead of their next match and would be ecstatic to continue to provide for the Reds.
“I have been around the first team set up for about two years now, and it has been good to learn off so many players from the team,” he continued.
“It always helps in improving my game and if I’m given opportunities I am ready to take them.
“I think we can go all the way this season. We started shaky but we have built momentum over the past 12 games where we are undefeated.
“I think we can continue this momentum and push for the title.”
Adelaide United will face Brisbane Roar in Round 21 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Saturday, 27 February at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.45pm ACDT.
