Kitto, who claimed the 2019 Australia Cup for his Club, once dreamed of this moment.

“I am deeply honoured to have been named captain of Adelaide United and I can’t wait to lead the boys out onto the park this season,” Kitto said.

“I have loved this Club and everything it stands for even before I made my debut, and I feel privileged every time I step out onto Coopers Stadium.

“I am excited with the responsibility that comes with this role, and I look forward to working even closer with the playing group, staff, and fans to bring this Club further success.

“We have an exciting squad for the upcoming season with a real blend of youth and experience, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone and showing what we can do.”

Adelaide United head coach, Carl Veart, expressed his confidence in the appointment of Kitto.

“Ryan has consistently demonstrated commitment to the Club and his team-mates, and he has never given up in any moment of his career,” he said.

“Ryan will not only lead the team during matches, but he will also play a critical role in fostering the team’s strong work ethic, unity, and discipline off the field.

“I have no doubt Ryan will excel in this new role and inspire a new generation of players and fans”.
