The Reds opponents, Málaga CF, have added another exciting player to its squad.

There is only just over one week until the LFP Challenge Match and the Reds opponents, Málaga CF, have added another exciting player to its squad.

Ricardo Horta was presented as a new member of Málaga Club de Fútbol yesterday, where he put pen to paper for the next five seasons. The Portuguese-born player is another exciting young player that will be hitting our shores later this month.

Horta was regarded as one of the most promising players in Portugal last season, playing 34 games and scoring 7 goals in all competitions with Vitória Setúbal.

The 19-year-old has also been a regular for the Portuguese U19, U20 and U21 sides, following a trajectory which many believe, will soon earn him a call to the full national side, if he can continue his excellent progress in La Liga.

Horta was in training with his new team yesterday: “I see a very strong unit, and I think we can have a great season by working together. I hope my characteristics fit in well.”

“I talked to Portuguese players, Duda, Eliseu, Antunes and Flávio, and they all spoke very highly of the Club. I’ve seen Málaga CF’s matches in Portugal, and I’m sure we can achieve great things this season.”

Young players is something Málaga CF seem to be promoting, which is also a trademark of Head Coach Josep Gombau.

“The youth of today are the future for this club and we need to make sure they develop in the right way,” said Gombau

“A club like Málaga promotes their youth system. It will be good and exciting to see these young players.

“Everyone around the club is excited about this game and these players, and so should the fans.

“We need the support of the fans, not only for our club but for football in South Australia.”
