Michael Marrone says the Reds are confident of securing the three points in their last home game of the season against Central Coast Mariners this Sunday.
With Adelaide United currently in fourth place on the Hyundai A-League table, and strong contenders for the Premiership, Marrone firmly believes acquiring as many points as possible heading into the Finals is of the utmost importance.
The fullback also says the three points on offer this weekend are definitely attainable, despite the Mariners coming off an impressive comeback performance against Sydney FC.
“The preparation for the game against Central Coast has been fairly straightforward so far,” Marrone said. “But there are a lot more training sessions to get through before Sunday, and after those, we will be all set to play.
“We have started to get a few players back into the squad from injury which is exciting, as it will bring experience into the team and that will definitely help us more to get the win.
”Looking at the table now, there are only a few more games left and it is very tight with points.
“With this game being our last one at home, it is a must win for us, and nothing less will do.
“The Mariners have a lot of pace on the wings, and they will try and use that to their advantage, so we will have to mark them tightly and try to stop them from playing those early balls over the top which is want they will want to do.”
Marrone also mentioned the importance of having strong support at Coopers Stadium, as it will be the home-ground advantage that will truly assist United in getting over the line.
“With this being the last match at Coopers for the regular season, and not knowing whether or not we will play here again in the Finals, it will be good to see as many people there as possible,” he continued.
“The support from the Reds fans for our team will definitely help us to achieve the goal of securing the three points and we will be doing everything we can to repay their faith in us.”
Adelaide United will face Central Coast Mariners in Round 25 of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season on Sunday, 27 March at Coopers Stadium. Kick-off is at 4.30pm ACDT.
