Adelaide United is delighted to announce the re-signing of Michael Marrone on a one-year contract.

Marrone’s deal was set to expire at the end of this campaign, but the versatile defender has now extended his stay at the Club until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.

The 32-year-old has amassed 161 appearances across all competitions during his two separate spells with the Reds, and has been a pillar in the Adelaide defence since 2014.

Renowned for his reliability and consistency, Marrone has enjoyed great success during his time at his hometown team. He has won two FFA Cups as well as claiming a historic Hyundai A-League Premiership and Championship double in the 2015/16 season.

Speaking on his decision to commit to the Club for a further season, Marrone said he was excited to know his future remained in Adelaide.

“It’s a great feeling knowing my future is here in my hometown,” he explained. “I’ve always been heavily invested in the Club and I want to always see us doing well.

“I loved winning another trophy earlier this season in the FFA Cup and I’m hopeful of more success later this campaign and next.

“I’ve represented the Reds for many years and I’m excited to be part of achieving even more with this great Club.”

Marrone has featured in 22 matches this season, registering two assists in the process.
