Matilda McNamara admits she was happy to score her maiden Westfield W-League goal but was disappointed with the result.
Adelaide United Women suffered its third defeat of the season after falling 2-1 to pace-setters Sydney FC Women at Cromer Park on Sunday.
McNamara was on the end of Emily Condon’s crossing free-kick to poke her header past the goalkeeper and halve the deficit in the second-half.
However, ultimately the goal was in vain as the Reds could not find an equaliser.
“It was nice to get a goal, sad we didn’t get any points from the result though,” she told reporters after the match.
“But good to get a goal and hopefully next time it will be worth a bit more.”

Despite the loss, the Reds remain in fourth spot and are still in a strong position to secure an inaugural finals appearance.
The 22-year-old centre-back knows while they have made a promising start they have not achieved anything yet.
“I think this season things are really starting to gel with us which is amazing,” she said.
“We’re really pushing for finals but we’re not there yet, we still have to keep getting results and winning games.
“Today was a bit disappointing not getting anything from it but we’ll go next week and hopefully move up the ladder again.”
