Nathan Konstandopoulos to depart Adelaide United

Adelaide United can announce the departure of Nathan Konstandopoulos, bringing an end to the midfielder’s time at his hometown Club.

Despite signing a one-year contract extension to remain in South Australia for the upcoming 2022/23 season in June, the 26-year-old has decided to seek another opportunity.

Representing the Club over two separate stints, Konstandopoulos, who played 77 matches for the Reds and scored seven goals, said: “This was the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my career to-date.

“Adelaide is my home and United is my hometown Club, but I feel the time is right for me to embark on a different challenge.

“I’m very appreciative of everything the Club has done for me throughout my career and want to thank them for allowing me to explore this new opportunity.

“I have a lot of admiration for Adelaide United’s fans and I also want to pass my thanks onto them for how they have supported me throughout my time here.

“This is a special Club and one that holds a special place in my heart – I wish everyone at the Reds the best for the future.”

Adelaide United Head Coach, Carl Veart, said: “It is disappointing to be losing Nathan from our squad because he is a fantastic person and a quality footballer.

“But, as a Club, we did not want to stand in his way from a new chapter in his career.

“Nathan has been the ultimate professional throughout his time with Adelaide United and the way he has upheld our values is second to none.

“We thank him for his valued contribution to the Club and wish him the best for this next stage.”

Everyone at Adelaide United thanks Nathan for his dedication to the Club and hope this new chapter is beneficial for him.
