Adelaide United Youth defender, Jared Clark, is anticipating nothing less than a difficult match against Adelaide City at Adelaide City Park on Saturday night.

The Black and Whites are winless to begin the season and have conceded seven goals across those two games.

However, Clark is well aware of City’s quality – refusing to read too much into their slow start.

The hosts were dispatched 4-0 by Croydon Kings before squandering a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3, albeit with nine players.

“Adelaide City is always a tough game especially going to their ground as well,” Clark explained.

“We’re ready for a tough game. I know that we’re very confident in how we play and we’ve got a lot of pace up front.

“But like I said before, Adelaide City is always a tough game and we’re expecting a big game and we’re definitely ready for it.”

The Young Reds come into the game off the back of a 4-3 loss to Campbelltown City.

Despite the result, Clark felt they showcased great character against the title holders.

“I’d say the biggest positive from that game was the fight that we showed throughout the whole ninety minutes,” he said.

“The spectators saw we didn’t back down from the football fight and that’s something we’ll take into the next game.”

With United on three points from the opening two rounds, Clark gave his assessment on how the team was travelling so far.

“The first game (against Raiders) we defended really well and in the second one we sort of just switched off at crucial times,” he said.

“One being just after the drinks break and then also conceding two goals after half-time.

“I think really it’s just small, minor details that need perfecting for us to really capitalise on teams.”

Adelaide United Youth face Adelaide City in Round 3 of the National Premier League 2019 season on Saturday, 9 March at Adelaide City Park. Kick-off is at 7.00 PM. Reserves kick-off at 4.45pm.
